As of Saturday, February 21 there are 300 days to go until Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters. With 300 days to go, I feel like I know everything there is to know about the new movie. Back when The Force Awakens was announced, I told myself that I would stay spoiler free. That I would go into the new movie clear of any information that would ruin the plot or story for me. That lasted about five minutes.
Since shooting began on the new Star Wars movie, little tidbits of information have been leaking from the set. A drone picture here, a line from the movie there, all little pieces like a jigsaw puzzle that if you put them together in the correct order, you see the big picture. Last week, one of the biggest rumors was unleashed onto the Interwebs. If spoilers were Japanese monsters, this was the Godzilla, the Spoiler-zilla, you could call it. Did I read it, yes. Do I believe the rumor to be true, yes. Do I wish I had never read it? No. There in lies the conflict. This rumor is something that I have speculated happening since it was announced that there would be a new Star Wars movie. The fact that this rumor came out just confirms what I was thinking all along.
J.J. Abrams and company have said that between the end of principle photography and the release of the movie, lots of false information would be planted to throw people off the scent of the plot, so that people wouldn’t know what to believe. 300 days is a long time to wade through the false information. 300 days can’t go by fast enough.
